Understand your camera
Everyone with a camera is welcome on my Cape Town Photography Tours! Bring your phone camera, GoPro or your brand new DSLR. Each one has great potential, waiting to be unlocked. I will show you general photography tips and tricks to take better photos as well as showing those with DSLR’s, that all those buttons on your camera, don’t have to be confusing. I will slowly introduce you what the most commonly used buttons do, when and how to use them.
Learn to take better photos
While the camera basics and functionality are important in taking great photographs, it only covers the technical side of photography rather than the ‘ideas’ or ‘creative side’. Composition is this other side. My Cape Town Photography Tours will teach you the visual perception and what to look out for in order to get the best photographs of Cape Town during your stay here
Focus, Movement & Sharpness
You can get all camera settings correct and have a very creative composition, but if your subject or entire image is out of focus or blurry, there is not much you can do even, in editing programs like Photoshop. While large, non-moving subjects like a mountain landscape or tree are easy to get in focus, there are techniques that I will teach during my Cape Town Photography Tours, to get the best results when shooting and moving subject such as cars, people, animals and birds
Aperture is part of the exposure fundamentals class that I will teach in the beginning. There is however more to aperture and how it affects what’s in focus and what’s blurry, known as depth of field (DOF). During my Cape Town Photography Tours, I will show you how different lens and distances between your subject matter, influences the depth of field, allowing you to be creatively in charge of your photographs
Creative Motion Blur
Also part of the exposure fundamentals is shutter speed. As with aperture, there is more too shutter speed than just being used for exposure, as it influences how much motion blur your image contains. During your time with me on my Cape Town Photography Tours, you will learn how to be in control of the motion blur, as well as using filters to use it to your creative advantage
Low Light & Sunset
Everyone loves gorgeous sunset and my Cape Town photography tours have no lack of them, but shooting a sunset as your eyes see it is whole different story. I will talk you through some great techniques in getting better photos with your camera phone and DSLR cameras. I recommend a tripod for the sunset adventures, but will also show you how you can make your own when one isn’t available
The world of macro photography is an amazing place, one that many of us don’t even notice on a daily basis. But with some specialized gear, you will be able to uncover the most amazing images. Macro is a niche photography art form, but one that yields amazing results if done correctly. My Cape Town Photography Tours will show you the basics on getting started
Food photography is very popular, just look at how many people post their meals on Instagram. Mastering food photography requires a lot more technique however. Understanding lighting and composition plays a massive role between boring food photo and an excellent one. On the last day of my Cape Town Photography Tour I will show you basics to get you started
